Curriculum planning
The school’s theory of the church, social and environmental development, children's interests, teaching resources, activity time, are all measured in the planning of the curriculum. "Knowledge", "Skills", "Attitudes", are also considered for further study arrangements. Chinese language curriculum uses a step-by-step approach from basic speaking skills to the vocabulary of everyday usage, to extend the expression of simple sentences and passages. In English curriculum¸ children learn letters, sounds, words and sentences. NET teacher increases children's exposure to foreign learning accents and patterns. Mandarin learning through singing and gaming to improve their listening and speaking skills. Scientific experiments are conducted to let children identify answers from observation results from previous prediction. By doing simple research, recording and summary, students can build up new knowledge through the techniques learnt from experiments. Music and physical education are combined into gymnastics, rhythm and games, to cater the interests of children in shaping the physical and psychological development. Arts and crafts, provided with various materials to paint and create, to enhance creativity and imagination as well as nurturing their appreciation of their own and the work of others.
We will follow the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
Learning / Teaching approach and activities
The "theme courses" will be compiled with a step-by-step spiral teaching according to the development of children. To promote the balanced development of children, the school arranges weekly parent-child reading to let children read more. After activities, children are required record their learning experience through drawings or writing as to strengthen their learning experiences.
Assessment of children’s learning experiences
The school's assessment policy and standards are taken up by a committee formed by the principal and teachers to regulate the ethics of the scheme that assess to all students. A comprehensive assessment are made through Six Learning Areas, Language, Early Childhood Mathematics, Nature and Living, Physical Fitness and Health, Self and Society and Arts and Creativity. The principle of continuous assessment is drawn up with the content of "Learning and Teaching" in accordance with the development of the children, so as to evaluate the learning experience of students and to understand the different dynamics of the development of individuals. Recognition and appreciation are given to benefit with the ability to obtain appropriate development.
