Curriculum planning
The curriculum is structured according to the six learning areas of Language, Early Childhood Mathematics, Nature and Living, Physical Fitness and Health, Arts and Creativity, and Self and Society, as set out in the “Curriculum Guide for Kindergarten Education" (2017) by the Education Bureau. The spiral curriculum covers knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
We will follow the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
Learning / Teaching approach and activities
Using the "project-based learning" teaching approach, together with picture book stories and activities such as parent-child data collection, group discussions, outdoor visits, and art creations, as well as using group and game teaching methods, children are given more opportunities to participate in the classroom. The classroom is also set up with different learning corners to provide an interactive learning environment, allowing children to explore and learn on their own in a diversified learning environment. This stimulates and enhances children's interest and ability in learning. The school employs foreign English and Putonghua teachers to provide a comprehensive foreign language learning environment.
Assessment of children’s learning experiences
Monthly observation records are distributed to record children performance in the six learning areas as a rating scale. Three-phased continuous observation throughout the year and a learning portfolio that includes monthly developmental and six learning areas records, parent evaluations, child self-evaluation, and thematic learning content. Twice a year, we meet parents to understand their children's development and discuss ways to enhance children's learning.
