Curriculum planning
Catering for children’s age and developmental stages, we engage children in learning for developing their multi-intelligences and provide them with a versatile and meaningful learning environment. Our curriculum focuses on promoting children’s holistic development and covers a wide range of learning areas. Underpinned by the “Kindergarten Curriculum Guide”, the curriculum covers six learning areas and “Spirituality”, and includes three essential components “Knowledge”, “Skills” and “Attitude”. It is also incorporated with religious education, life education, moral education, environment education and children’s drama, with creative activities held in mixed-gender groups. We offer learning content closely related to children’s everyday life and adopt a self-directed learning module. With a curriculum that is designed to respond to children’s developmental needs and interests, and with a range of inspirational and interesting activities, we help develop children’s learning potential and enhance their learning abilities.
The curriculum is developed around real-life themes with integrated learning content spreading out spirally to align with children’s development, interests and abilities. With the use of realia, learning settings and site visits, we enable children to learn through play, encourage them to conduct self-directed learning and help them develop an exploratory mind.
We will follow the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
Learning / Teaching approach and activities
Guide chidren’s study with divergent thinking which includes "plan, practice and reflection". Learning through play and group activities. Arrange "extra-curricular visit" activities, so that children can experience the relations of various kinds of knowledge. "Originality activities" are held on every Friday to train children to "seek change, breakthrough and innovation" on the foundation of their prior knowledge. Implement life education, religious education and drama education, train students to establish positive values and outlook on life, so that children can live in a more abundant and meaningful way in the course of growing up.
Assessment of children’s learning experiences
Through continuous observation of children’s learning performance, qualitative and quantitative assessments, recording and in-depth analysis, we gain a thorough understanding of children development in the six learning aspects. We also make adjustments and improvements on curriculum design and teaching plans from time to time so that we can provide appropriate support and follow up for children based on their developmental progress.
