Curriculum planning
Our school takes "child-centered" as its educational philosophy, focuses on the all-round development of children, takes into account children's interests, abilities and life experiences, integrates diversified teaching methods, and guides children to explore and share ideas in the learning process. At the same time, five teaching philosophies have been set up: "Keen on exploring", "Courage to face challenge", "Blissful Learning", " Confidence to serve others", and "Keep eyes on Jesus". Through constructive learning activities, children can interact with others, interact to enhance children's interest in learning. At the same time, based on the truth of the Bible, through Bible stories, sharing and games, it helps students build good moral character. Incorporate different teaching methods and activities to allow children to learn through games, discussions, observations, explorations and records, so as to increase children's learning motivation and interest, inspire children's diverse potential and promote children's whole-person development.
We will follow the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
Learning / Teaching approach and activities
We teach students in the form of small groups. This provides students with more opportunities to express their views, enhance their language development, social skills and all-round potentials. In order to improve students’ English ability, we have native-English teachers (NETs) to interact with children during the one-hour self-selected activities on each day. Besides English, we also provide Mandarin class every week. The Mandarin teacher will teach students in words, sentences and songs of different themes in Mandarin by using school-based textbooks which facilitate parents to do revision with children at home. They can express their thoughts and problem solving skill. Our school adopts Orff music teaching method, encourages children to experience various music and movements, and uses body instruments, percussion instruments, allowing them to experience the fun of music. Through free play, children can choose freely in a certain game environment according to their own interests and needs, with the goal of happiness and satisfaction.
Assessment of children’s learning experiences
We assess children’s learning experiences on a continued basis through continuous observation and evaluation. The school also examines children’s development and learning development in six major categories, namely physical fitness and health, language (English and Chinese), early childhood Mathematics, nature and living, self and society, art and creativity.
