Curriculum planning
Picture books and games are our medium and means we design to cultivate children’s five aspects of development, i.e. moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic. We place particular emphasis on developing moral integrity and problem-solving skills to advance the all-round development of children. In addition, our school-based English and Putonghua curriculum is also designed based on stories and nursery rhymes, with the aim of enhancing children's interest in learning foreign languages.
We will follow the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
Learning / Teaching approach and activities
The school implements small group teaching, with themes incroporating picture book stories, Orff music, life-oriented mathematics, and problem-solving activities, to promote the overall balanced development of children. Through a variety of on-campus and off-campus activities, such as setting up free play days every week, we allow children to learn actively and enrich their learning experience, and cultivate their moral and social awareness. Off-campus activities include but are not limited to: field trips, school visits, inter-school or individual performances and competition, to enhance their global perspective and promote their confidence.
Assessment of children’s learning experiences
Evaluation of children’s comprehensive learning skills is done through continuous daily observation and analysis. Reports will be submitted to parents regularly through a Learning Portfolio to help them understand the overall condition of their children. Children’s home-based behavioral questionnaire will also be filled out by parents to provide teachers with a more comprehensive understanding of their child's developmental performance.
